EXPERTISE
Dr. Hogan is a Certified Industrial Hygienist with a PhD in Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences, and is a tenured Associate Professor at an Illinois university. He’s currently teaching courses on safety and chemical hazards, safety control methods, and safety management.
He’s a former member of the ACGIH Threshold Limit Values Committee that develops workplace chemical exposure guidelines. He’s held local and national leadership positions for industrial hygiene associations. (Note: consulting services are separate from Dr. Hogan’s university employment and professional affiliations.)
Dr. Hogan consults with companies and attorneys. Ted’s worked on 100+ litigation matters (defense and plaintiffs), prepared 40+ expert reports, and testified in 30+ cases. Issues include: worker injuries, chemical exposures and labeling, risk communication, biohazards, EHS policies/procedures and management practices.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Dr. Hogan was the corporate head of Safety and Industrial Hygiene for Commonwealth Edison, with safety responsibility for 18,000 employees.
His company provided EHS consulting for over 400 clients, preparing compliance and training programs, evaluating safety and health issues, and providing risk communication to workers and the public. Business sectors include: manufacturing, utilities, metal production, governmental agencies, academia, waste management, chemicals, food production, pharmaceuticals, plastics, medical devices, refineries, hospitals, and infection control guidance for healthcare and other sectors.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Dr. Hogan wrote book chapters for multiple editions of the National Safety Council’s "Fundamentals of Industrial Hygiene", including the latest 7th edition. He was named 2019 Faculty of the Year for his effective teaching ability by colleagues in the Engineering College.
